Celebrating youth-led climate action initiatives is important, now more than ever. These community and environmental leaders are making positive local impacts that, together, lead to global change. Now in its second year, our Award recognizes their hard work and determination during these uncertain times and empowers these change-makers to keep up the good fight. The Canadian Youth Climate Action Award recognizes and amplifies successful, youth-led climate-action programs/projects. Our primary focus is to support young Canadians working across all age groups on positive, impactful ideas and actions that help address the most critical climate challenges of our times. Here are last year’s winners, expressing their thoughts on winning the Award:
The number of excellent Award submissions in our first year from across Canada was truly inspiring. Instead of succumbing to climate anxiety, these young Canadians are taking positive actions within their communities to fight climate change. Now in our second year, we hope to build on the success of last year’s campaign by increasing the amount of the awards and recognizing even more projects.
The quality of the work being done and the need to celebrate and amplify their achievements led to the decision to try to expand and develop our Awards program even further and to seek corporate sponsorship funds to help it grow. With a budget of $50,000 over two years we expect to be able to discover, recognize, and inspire more youth-led climate projects in the coming year.
The Canadian Youth Climate Action Award is administered in partnership with Pivot Green.
